Description

A dam, lake, trout stream, sandy beach, prairie remnants and a nature center are all featured on Willow River State Park's 2,891 acres of rolling countryside. Enjoy spectacular views of the historic Willow Falls and the Willow River Gorge.

Little Falls Lake is for non-motorized boats only, no gas or electric motors allowed.

Vehicles pulling trailers over 30 feet will have problems manuevering within the campground.

  • 2008: Reservation dates are April 25 through October 31.

    Park is on 1st come / 1st served basis from 11/01 until the last Friday of the following April.

  • Flush toilets, showers and the dump station are open the first weekend in May. Flush toilets and showers are closed by the first weekend in October. The dump station remains open for unloading only until the first snowfall or late November.
  • Pit toilets are available when buildings are closed.
  • Water is available at the service building just down the hill from the office on the left.
  • The main campground is open to vehicles until first snowfall or late November. Afterward, the campground road is closed to all vehicles until April. The campground road is part of the ski trail system and it is not snow plowed. Tent campers may park at the campground entrance and walk in to camp, with camping gear. Campers with motor homes or trailers may camp at sites #73-78 (electric hookup) on the parking lot by the beach, which is plowed in winter. Reservations cannot be cancelled online. The gazebo as well as a fire ring and grills are for shared use by all group campers.

    From Wisconsin or St. Paul, MN: take I-94 to exit #4 and turn north on East Hwy 12. Follow the signs north on East US Hwy 12. Go straight at County Rd U, then straight on to County Rd A. On County Rd A drive approximately 1.5 miles to the park entrance.

    From Stillwater, MN: cross the bridge to Wisconsin Hwy 64. Turn right on County Rd E (the right fork after crossing the bridge). Follow County Rd E to County Rd I (as in Ida). Turn right on County Rd I and go south to County Rd A. Turn right and go about 1 miles to the park entrance.
